Weighted Grade Calculator

Combine category grades using percentage weights to estimate a weighted course grade.

Category grade (%)Weight (%)

What this tool does

A weighted course grade gives more influence to categories with larger weights. This is common when exams, projects and homework contribute different shares of the final grade.

Formula or method

weighted grade = Σ(category grade × category weight) ÷ Σ(weights)

Example

If exams are 88% at 40% weight and assignments are 92% at 60%, the estimate is (88×40 + 92×60) ÷ 100 = 90.4%.

How to use it well

Use realistic inputs, check any assumptions shown on the page, and compare the result with the rules used by your school, teacher, or assignment. CurioLift tools are designed to make the calculation transparent rather than hide it.

Frequently asked questions

Should the weights add to 100%?

Usually yes for a complete course estimate. A lower total can represent only part of the course.

What if my gradebook drops assignments?

This calculator does not automatically model dropped scores or special rules.
